The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is a highly respected training and certification course for dogs of all ages.
CGC classes focus on teaching dogs the ten essential skills that constitute good manners at home and in the community, such as accepting friendly strangers, sitting politely for petting, walking through crowds, and responding reliably to basic cues.
These classes also emphasize responsible pet ownership and help prepare dogs for advanced training.
Each CGC class runs for five weeks. Upon completion, dogs have the opportunity to take the CGC test, and those who pass earn the official AKC Canine Good Citizen title and certificate.
Participating in CGC classes not only boosts your dog’s confidence and reliability but also strengthens your partnership and opens doors to many dog-friendly activities and opportunities.
